Blake's Nursery

Baby girl's nursery is pretty much finished. We are still waiting on our new monitor to come in and I plan on framing a few of our family pictures after she arrives, but other than that we are all set! She seems to be quite cozy in there so maybe... just maybe... showing off a few pictures of her new room will get Blakely to evict her current resting place and upgrade to this one! A mama can dream right?!

As mentioned before my sister made the mobile and it is my ABSOLUTE favorite piece of the nursery. I already had the gold frame and "A" and I was able to find the other two initials in a pretty similar finish for her monogram.  One of our big gifts from my parents was the Pottery Barn baby bedding. I felt that the coral made too much of a pop when you walked into the room so I actually turned the bumper facing inwards and it made a huge difference! I love the white against the Jenny Lind crib.

The glider and ottoman were a STEAL off a local mom swap page for $80. They had some staining, but nothing a little blue Dawn dish soap couldn't solve. They look brand spanking new. Her dresser/changing table was also a $40 Craigslist purchase we made when we were first married. Its been sitting in our guest room unused for the last 5 years. My mom and I used chalk paint to ombre the front. The bottled color was the darkest shade and we mixed in white to lighten the base color for each drawer. The pop of paint along with brand new knobs completely transformed it.

It won't be long now...  all this precious little room needs is a Blakely. Come on girlfriend!

Baby Blake's "Sprinkle"

There has always been this nagging thought in the back of my head as to whether or not accept a shower for a second baby. So many people have mentioned that they would never do a second shower after having the first so I just assumed having even a small get together was out of the question. Well my mom and sister just wouldn't have that. They both insisted on fully showering this little girl with love.

We agreed to keep it simple in terms of a registry. We have all the BIG gear, but having a different gender from your first (especially a girl!) opens up doors to all kinds of different colors and styles that are just too precious to resist. The invite stated that we just needed the basic: diapers, wipes, and maybe some clothes. Well to say this little girl has more clothes than any of us know what to do with is a complete understatement. Tutus, bows, and shoes... oh my!

We agreed to have the shower at my house in order to keep it simple. The decorations and spread of food was everything a nine month pregnant woman could ask for. My mother in law helped with the main dishes. The pink lemonade and sherbet punch added a sweet pink touch. The candy bar was absolutely gorgeous as well! Let's just say I have had way more chocolate covered pretzels the last few days than I care to admit at this point in my pregnancy. My mom went above and beyond so many amazing details that just screamed "baby girl Anderson!"

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the decorations. It was exactly my taste and full of small details that I couldn't help but appreciate. My sister recently made a floral mobile for Blakely's nursery. I have talked about it so much that she decided to do a similar styled decoration with her first name initial. That "B" looked amazing against the ship-lap. If if wasn't pink and the wrong initial for our last name I might just have convinced Brian to let me keep it up.

I seriously have never felt so much love in one room. Blakely and I are so fortunate to have so many AMAZING women in our lives. She has some of the best role models to look up to. One thing I know for certain is that I can teach my daughter what to look for in a solid group of girlfriends. After having so many amazing female mentors and friends in my life I can only pray she gets to have the same in hers as she grows and matures. A special thanks to my mama for making this shower one of the most memorable days for me. It was everything I could have imagined. And "thank you" to all these amazing mamas and women that came out to celebrate Miss. Blakely Elise! You made our day so incredibly special!
